Editions of multiples, typically a book or prints, limited to a specifically stated number of copies, which are usually numbered consecutively and sometimes signed by the artist. After the production of an edition, the plates, molds, dies, or stereos are often destroyed, or, in the case of books, the type scattered, after the edition has been completed.
